Surface Gran Trail de Valdigne (45 km)

Dear trailrunners,

I would like to receive your advice on the sort of running shoes to choose for the trail: normal running shoes or trail running shoes?
When one of our crew ran the Jungfrau marathon, he was on normal running shoes.
Is the surface pretty simular to that, or more rough (meaning: more rocks)? Is there mud or water on the trail?

Dear Jeroen,I phink is better to use trail running,last year we have run all the time with rain,and a lot of mud and with the normal shoes is very dangerus.Ciao Claudio

i think so

Jeroen, I strongly raccommend to use proper montain runningshoes as GTV is not fully comparable to the Jungfrau marathon. I did both of them (but GVT 84km) and GTV (also the 45km) is more than 90% on steep mountain trails where the Junfrau has only the last few kms.
